Ekiti Election: The Final Clampdown‎ Begins

Indications emerged a few minutes ago that the military has begun a final ‎clampdown on associates of Governor Kayode Fayemi in the bid to clip his wings and limit his chances ahead of tomorrow's governorship election.
Sources say the military which stopped Fayemi's convoy a few minutes ago had insisted on conducting a search on him, a move the governor was said to have resisted vehemently.
According to sources, the military is said to have also concluded plans to deploy some of its men to the Government House‎ tomorrow to curtail the governor's movement.
The plan, sources say, is to make sure the governor does not go out again immediately after voting, exactly what former president Olusegun Obasanjo did to a former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba in 2003.
Also, remember the kind of treatment meted out to Malam Nasir el-Rufai during the Anambra election, when security detained him and refused to let him move about.
Meanwhile, while Fayemi's movement might be curtailed tomorrow, the Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelil Adesiyan, former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin and PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu, who are not indigenes of the state would be allowed free movement.
Sources also say that the intimidation of Fayemi's people is currently ongoing in Ekiti.
