EFCC Arraigns Three For Fraud


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, February 9, 2015 arraigned three suspected fraudsters  Nwabueze C. Nwabueze (alias HRM Ezeugo 1), his wife, Bridget Nwabueze (alias Juliet) and Ngozi Izime Orji (alias Ben Azua) before Justice H. A Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt , Rivers State on a seven count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of Eight Million Six Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira (N8, 630,000.00).

PROSECUTE ALL CASES OF THUGGERY PENDING- KWARA SECURITY COUNCIL








Kwara State Security Council has called on the police to prosecute all pending cases of thuggery to halt increasing incidence of political thuggery in the State.

The council at its meeting headed by the state governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed expressed concern that increase of political violence as the general elections approach has created serious security challenges in the State.

NEMA Constitutes Panel To Probe Alleged Atrocities in IDP Camps



Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Muhammad Sani-Sidi has constituted a high powered investigative panel to look into allegations of rape and child trafficking in some internally displaced persons’ camps in the Northeast.

These allegations were rife in some sections of the media recently.

VICTORY FOR ANDY UBA OTHERS AS COURT OF APPEAL SETS ASIDE JUDGEMENT AFFIRMING OGUEBEGO-LED EXCO'S LEADERSHIP


The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday set aside the judgments of the Federal High Court, Abuja which upheld the Ejike Oguebego-led Executive Committee as the true leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State.



The appellate court also set aside the Federal High Court’s decision which voided the Colonel Augustine Akobundo-led caretaker/ad-hoc committee established by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to run the affairs of its Anambra chapter and restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accepting the list candidates that emanated from the primaries conducted by the caretaker committee.

BOKO HARAM STRIKE WORKERS IN NIGER

 
Boko Haram fighters waged a new attack today in a southeastern border town in Niger, where a blast killed one person and injured at least 10 people.
The Islamist militants launched the assault around the town of Diffa before dawn, just two days after their first major offensive in Niger in the area bordering Nigeria on Friday, witnesses said.
There were no immediate toll from the fighting between Islamist rebels and the Niger troops, whose parliament is due to vote on Monday on joining the regional offensive against Boko Haram.
Aid workers said the assailants had come from Nigeria, Boko Haram’s home base, and reported heavy artillery fire.

INEC RESCHEDULES ELECTION DATES, NOW 28TH MARCH AND 11TH APRIL

 

INEC Chairman Attahiru Jega yeterday released a press statement confirming the postponement of the 2015 elections which had been rumoured for some weeks. Read the statement below;
