Oyetola disclosed this in a statement he personally signed to congratulate people of the state on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the creation of the state, reiterating his government’s commitment to deliver on campaign promises.
“The state is partnering with other South West states to strengthen security in the region, and soon, the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) will commence operation to fortify the area.
“We are contributing 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers and other ideas and logistics to further guarantee the security of lives and property of the citizens in our state and region,” the governor said.
Oyetola added that his administration’s policies roadmap is being driven by the preponderant aspiration and yearnings of the people in the state, which, according to him, was validated by the United Kingdom Department for International Development’s (DFID) funded Citizens’ Needs Assessment exercise in Osun.
He explained that every responsible government must make the people’s demands the basis of its policies and implementation.
“We promised to pay full salary to all our workers, we have not defaulted. We promised to pay our pensioners; we have also not defaulted. We promised to rebuild, remodel and, in some cases, carry out total rehabilitation of existing school buildings in series 4 classrooms, 5 classrooms, 6 classrooms, 8 classrooms, 10, 15 and 20 classrooms at a maximum of 50 pupils/students per class, to cater for communities at 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 750 pupils per school.
“We have commissioned completed projects in that regard in Telemu and Morinu, in Olaoluwa and Iwo local government areas respectively. Our work as a government so far points to one fact: better days ahead.

“We have also reconstructed and equipped 11 fire service stations, with 14 fire fighting vehicles to give confidence to the fire fighters in the discharge of their life and property saving duties. We did that because security is meaningless without safety.”

Ekiti students task Fayemi on amenities, bursary disbursement, others

Students of Ekiti State, under the aegis of the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU), Ekiti State University (EKSU) chapter, have pleaded with the Governor Kayode Fayemi to urgently provide social amenities such as electricity, water, and security on campus.
The students also appealed to governor Fayemi to work towards an even disbursement of the bursary and scholarship they received from government
The union alleged that the current system of the bursary disbursement  has always favoured indigenous students whose parents are close to politicians. They equally asked for fees reduction for students from Ekiti as practised by other state’s tertiary institutions.
According to  a statement signed by the FESSU, EKSU president, Alegbeleye Ayorinde Temitayo, and made available o newsmen at the weekend, the e students appreciated governor Fayemi and his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi for his love and care for Ekiti people and the youths.
The statement reads: “We appreciate the government for the love he has for the indigenous students of the State in giving scholarship and bursary awards. History made us know that this kind of opportunity has not been available during the previous administrations in the state. But a problem ensues, which we want the government to help us look into. The problem of partiality. It has become a rampant belief among students that names are being collated in political party ward offices in Ekiti, making only children of party members some beneficiaries.
“In short, Ekiti State scholarship board and bursary award is now a party slot. If this continues this way, there will never be space and opportunity for sons of nobody to become somebody. Therefore, we seize this medium to plead with the government of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to help us look into this by making the scholarship and bursary opportunities liberal for all and to all.”
On security, they said: ” Moreover, we call on the government to come to our aid on the issue of insecurity in schools and students’ environments.  We want the government to help us curb some factors that enhance insecurity such as, uniformed-men’s  invasion, hooliganism, cultism, and other physical violence in tertiary institutions in the state and in EKSU particularly. ‘ Another problem which causes impediment in the academic performance in our dear institution, EKSU is the problem of lack of electricity. The issue of electricity in EKSU has become a story of yesteryears. The last time availability of electricity was experienced was 2014 during the last tenure of Dr.John Kayode Fayemi. Therefore, we want the government to continue the good works which was earlier started.”
The students also urged the government to ensure  the indigenous students enjoy some benefit of being students from Ekiti, saying: ” another issue we want the government to look into is that differences should be slated in the school fees of indigenes and non-indigenes as applicable in other institutions in the nation,”they appealed.

Addressing journalists at the location on Biambo Street, Off School Road by Mami Market Junction, near Rainbow Estate, Wike said the claim was the handiwork of mischief makers attempting to create disaffection.
The governor maintained that there was no Mosque on ground, hence nothing was demolished.
According to Wike: “I received calls from several prominent Nigerians on the fake news being circulated online. I have come here with reporters and you can see there was no Mosque here.
“It is most unfortunate that fickle-minded persons will claim that a Mosque was demolished at this place, when no Mosque existed here. The story was concocted by mischief makers to score cheap points”.
Governor Wike explained that some persons started erecting illegal foundation at the disputed land, even though they had no approval to embark on any construction work.
“They came here to erect illegal structure. There was no approval from the State Government for any structure to be erected here.
“The persons who started the foundation had already dragged the State Government to court on the disputed land. The Rivers State Government won the case. What they attempted to do was to start the illegal construction to tie the hands of the State Government. “
Governor Wike said that the State Government operates within the rule of law, stressing that the State Government will not be distracted by the illegal circulation of fake reports.
Wike stated that several Mosques constructed on the approval of the State Government exist across Port Harcourt and other major towns of the State.
He added; “The government gave them notice not to do anything on the land. But they went ahead with the illegal foundation and the relevant agency stopped them.

“Why would we want to bring down any Mosque, when there are other Mosques across the State? What is the Special interest on this one?”
