Idel-Kabir - OLOWU FELICITATES WITH MUSLIMS

On the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, a prominent traditional ruler in Osun State, the Olowu of Kuta in Ayedire Local Government area of the state, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, as enjoined all Nigerians to take advantage of the celebration to supplicate for enhanced peace, security and progress of the country.
The Olowu, who emphasized the significance of Eid-el-Kabir in strengthening the bond that binds the nation together, also urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of love, charity and sacrifice as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Mohammed. Oba Makama, in his Sallah Message made available to newsmen in Osogbo the state capital, felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state and our Armed forces,entire residents of Kuta, home and abroad and other Muslim faithfuls while wishing them the guidance and blessings of Allah. According to the Olowu, "this season calls for forgiveness and love for one another and there is need for Nigerians to be united and be their brother’s keeper in spite of all odds. The Olowu added, “As you engage in the celebrations of the Sallah, please remember that social distancing, wearing of face masks, hand washing and all those other protocols enunciated by the NCDC must be observed". The Olowu, who wishes all Nigerians a peaceful and pleasant celebration used the medium to admonished every Muslims as they celebrates the annual festival to remember those who are in need by extending their complete love to them in all ramifications while they should all be law abiding before, during and after the festival.

Buhari mourns Maj.-Gen Sam Momah


President Muhammadu Buhari has sent heartfelt condolences to the family of former Minister of Science and Technology, retired Maj. Gen. Sam Momah.

In a condolence message by his spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, the president believed the former administrator, engineer and officer lived a memorable life, serving the country and humanity with all his God given gifts.

SANWO–OLU APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS OF GOVERNING COUNCILS FOR LAGOS TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS


Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Chairmen and Governing Council members for four State-owned Tertiary Institutions: Lagos State University (LASU), Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Lagos State Polytechnic and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED).

Customs in Seme intercepts 136,350 litres of petrol, 79 used cars


Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) intercepted 79 used vehicles known as ‘Tokunbo’ and 136,350 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) called petrol in the last six months.

The Acting Customs Area Comptroller, Mr Chedi Wada, told newsmen in Seme on Wednesday that the command made a total 824 interceptions with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N413.4 million.

FRSC Is Sallah Ready In Niger


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger State Sector Command, says it will deploy no fewer than 1, 010 personnel including drones for traffic control during the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
Mr Joel Dagwa, FRSC Sector Commander in the state made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Minna.

The Federal Government has declared Thursday 30 and Friday 31 July, as public holidays to mark 2020 year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has extended the phase two lockdown by one week from the initial one month extension.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and chairman of the PTF-COVID-19, Boss Mustpha, revealed this at the daily briefing on COVID-19 on Monday in Abuja.

Suicide: Police investigate death of jilted lover in Kano


The Police Command in Kano State says it has begun investigations into the death of a 22-year-old jilted lover, Ashiru Danrimi, who allegedly committed suicide.
The spokesman of the Command, Mr Abdullahi Haruna, a DSP, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Sunday.

No mask, no entry in station facilities, environs, NRC tells travelers


The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has declared its facilities and environs a no-mask no-entry zone in preparation for resumption of operations on July 29.
Mr Pascal Nnorli, Manager, Abuja-Kaduna train service told newsmen that the corporation has put measures in place to ensure passengers obeyed all COVID-19 guiedlines on the trains.

The Economic Confidential has released the Annual States Viability Index ( ASVI) which shows that seven (7) States are insolvent as their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) in 2019 were far below 10% of their receipts from the Federation Account Allocations (FAA) in the same year.

There have been reports of an ugly and unfortunate booing incident that took place outside the palace of our revered Royal Father, the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, on Saturday, July 25, 2020, during the visit of members of the National Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP entourage, including the Edo State Governor and governorship candidate of the PDP in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, were reportedly booed while going in and out of the palace by a motley crowd of mostly young boys, according to media reports.

Nigeria records 438 new COVID-19 cases Saturday


Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 438 new COVID-19 cases in the country as total infections from the virus rise to 39,977.
The NCDC made this known on its official twitter handle on Saturday.
It stated that regrettably 11 deaths were recorded in the country.

Sanwo-Olu inspects work on Third Mainland Bridge, calls for patience





Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appealed to motorists plying the Third Mainland Bridge to be patient as the bridge closes partially for repairs.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal on Saturday while on an inspection of the bridge and alternative routes rehabilitated by the state government.
