Oke Ogun PDP Supports Alao-Akala For Oyo State's Governorship Race
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State, on Thursday, at a meeting in Oje Owode, endorsed the aspiration of Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, to govern the state again on the platform of the party.
In a communiqué, issued at the end of the meeting, which was signed by the duo of Ola Adigun Irawo and Chief Gbadebo Adetoro, the party also lent its support to the senatorial ambition of Honourable Abisodun Kareem Tajudeen, currently representing Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West in the House of Representatives.
The party, which lauded both Alao-Akala and Tajudeen, for their support over the years, called on both the national and state secretariats of the party to ensure that all aspirants are allowed a leveled-playing field.
“The purpose of democracy is served when the wishes of the people are allowed to prevail,” the party noted. “It is, therefore, important that the wishes of the members of our great party with respect to those that will represent them in the general election be allowed to prevail. This can only be guaranteed by allowing a leveled-playing field for all the aspirants.”
Oke Ogun PDP assured the leadership of the party at both the state and national levels of its readiness to ensure the victory of the party in the ensuing elections.
“Our resolve to return Oyo State to the fold of the PDP-controlled states is well known. We shall, in cooperation with other zones in the state, ensure that we deliver the state to the PDP in 2015,” the communiqué stated.
While congratulating the Federal Government and the nation at large on the country’s 54th independence anniversary, the party called on the Federal Government to complete ongoing projects in the area.
