Ekiti workers seek promotion benefits

Ekiti State  civil servants have appealed to Governor Kayode Fayemi to implement the financial benefits of their promotion for 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The State Chairman, Public Service Negotiating Council, Kayode Fatomiluyi, and Secretary, Gbenga Olowoyo,  said workers in the state were becoming frustrated over the delay in paying them the money.
In a statement  on Monday,  the council urged Fayemi to address all  issues affecting civil servants in the state.
The statement added, “As a matter of fact, civil  servants are conscious of the readiness of the Fayemi administration to walk the talk in area of commitment to clearing all the outstanding salaries within one year of his term in the office which he has repeatedly said at different forums.
“Although workers view the non-implementation of the promotion  (benefits) to workers by the past administration as an action devoid of conscience, we believe government is a continuum,  hence the need for the Fayemi administration to come to the aid of the workers who are already getting frustrated.”
The workers however  assured the state  government of their commitment to its  programmes.
The group said, “To achieve this, the  JNC has proposed a quarterly interface between government and labour union leaders in the public service. This is a platform that will fast-track the resolution of some outstanding burning issues affecting workers generally.”
