The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday, arraigned one Francis Trimpung before a Federal High Court Lagos, over alleged trafficking of 620 grammes of cocaine.
The 25-year-old, who was slammed with a count charge of drug trafficking before Justice Saliu Saidu, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant had in his possession 620grammes of cocaine, classified as restricted narcotics by the NDLEA Act.
He told the court that “The defendant was arrested by security operatives at the departure hall of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, during outward clearance of Turkish Airline passengers.
“He was handed him over to the NDLEA for prosecution,thereafter,” he added.
The defence counsel sought bail for his client and was granted same by Justice Saidu.
The judge granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
He held that the sureties must have landed property in Lagos whose documents must be verified by the court’s registrar.
NDLEA said the offence of drug trafficking contravenes provisions of section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act. Cap N30 Laws of the Federation 2004.
Justice Saidu adjourned the case until Oct. 28 for trial, NAN reports.
