A report by TVC states that Abubakar was expected to face a disciplinary panel of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) on Friday, June 14.
Colonel Sambo Dasuki, who served in the government of President Goodluck Jonathan, is currently in detention over alleged misappropriation of funds during the 2015 general elections.
It was learnt that the notice for the hearing dated 16th May 2019, was signed by Patricia Orhomuru, the secretary of the disciplinary committee.
According to the invitation, the panel will sit at the office of the Supreme Court registrar in Abuja.
It was learnt that Malami is facing the panel over a statement credited to him in the Voice of America, Hausa Service on July 13, 2018.
In the interview, he was said to have been quoted as saying that Dasuki would not be released despite all subsisting court orders to let him out of detention.
The report said Malami had alleged that Dasuki was responsible for the death of over 100,000 Nigerians during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
A petition against Malami dated July 23, 2018 and received by the NBA, the family of Dasuki called for the former minister’s investigation.
We earlier reported that the Sokoto police command denied stopping the planned protest by family members of Dasuki over the continued detention of the former national security adviser by the federal government.
The family of the embattled Dasuki had on Monday, April 22, planned a protest march from the City campus of the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto to state Government House to express their displeasure over his continued detention.
