At a stormy meeting Tuesday, the two sides threw caution to the wind and exchanged insults over claims that the salary had still not been paid.
The confrontation occurred at the governor’s office Press Centre, Abeokuta, the state capital, where the Secretary to the State Government, Adeoluwa Taiwo, was to address journalists, alongside the Commissioner for Finance, Kemi Adeosun, on behalf of the governor.

He therefore urged Mr. Olakanmi who attended the media briefing, to inform the public that payment had indeed been made.
But Mr. Olakanmi shocked the governor’s representatives by openly faulting the claim that payment had been made.
He said to the best of his knowledge he could not confirm that the workers had been paid.
“I am just hearing this for the first time, and for anybody to say I am been mischievous, that is not correct. I still maintain my position on the radio interview granted in the morning, I am not aware of any salary payment,” he declared.
Angered by the comments, the representative of the governor took the microphone and tongue-lashed Mr. Olakanmi who was accompanied by three other union officials.
The duo later took their grouse outside the press centre where the secretary to the government rained curses on Mr. Olakanmi, saying in Yoruba,”Ori wa ada fun ee”, which translates as “our goodwill will judge you”.
In response, Mr. Olakanmi said, “Ori awa osise na ada fun yin”, meaning, “our own goodwill as civil servants will also judge you”.
The inconclusive press conference was also attended by Ganiyu Olatunde (Chief of Staff to the governor),Yusuph Olaniyonu (Commissioner for Information and Strategy),Kemi Adeosun(Commissioner for Finance),and Modupe Adekunle(Head of Service) among other top government functionaries.
