Daniel who told journalists in Sagamu, Ogun state on Sunday 8 June said: “My concern for now is how to eject the tenants at Oke Mosan, come 2015 and that should be the priority of every citizen in Ogun State. This government has dragged the State into a big debt and it calls for second thought by all and sundry.
“Let me tell you something, during my 8 years tenure in office as governor of Ogun State, I want to tell you that all what we spent including salaries, benefits, projects and others inclusive was 300 billion naira and to my utmost surprise, this government has spent over 270 billion naira on road construction alone in just two years. This is shocking.
“I challenged them in Abeokuta on 17 May concerning the cost of all these projects and up till today, they have not replied me. These roads are good, but how much do they cost? I am an engineer, they can’t be fooling us, I have a duty for the generations yet unborn to give them information and I am fully ready and equipped for that.”
“All of you can attest to this, we also did a lot of projects during our eight years in office and our people benefited a lot, but this time around, cit is not like that, something is hidden somewhere,” Daniel quipped.
In his goodwill speech, a member of the State House of Assembly, Remmy Hazzan, representing Odogbolu State Constituency declared that the debt profile of the State was about N300 billion.
“The governor is lying and I have to put the record straight. I am in the system, I know what is happening both within and outside, the figure they give as the total debt of N37.6billion is only for the issuance and capital. There is N 18 billion dollars the state owes international donors while N250 billion is owed to contractors.
“If you sum all these together, the total debt is above N300billion. This government also deceived the civil servants to get loan on the arrangement that it will be deducted from the source.
“But I can confirm to you as we stand here today that since February 2014, the money have been deducted and were not remmited to the banks, this is anti-labour and fraudulent. Collectively we made a mistake by voting this government and we must all vote them out, if we want a better state,” Hazzan claimed.
Highlight of the event was the detection of some All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the State to the Labour Party.
Among the defectors are the former Chairman, Sagamu local government, Otunba Shamsideen Osho and Chief Moshood Ogunfadewo from Ijebu East. They were welcomed into the party by the Labour Party Chairman in the State, Comrade Niyi Osoba.
Also at the occasion were Chief Kola Ogunjobi, Otunba Ayo Osinubi, Hon. Ladi Adebutu Kessington, Chief Mrs Iyabo Apampa, the three gubernatorial aspirants in the party, Mr Sina Kawonise, Prince Gbenga Nasir Isiaka and Chief Sarafa Tunji Ishola among others.
